Riso means “Ideal.”

In 1946, Noboru Hayama, the founder of RISO, hung a small signboard reading "RISO-sha" on the front door of his home in Setagaya, Tokyo, to start a small mimeograph printing company.

Hayama says, "I started this business in the chaotic situation just after the World War II. I believed our nation would have no future if the people had no ideals to hold onto. I decided to stick to my own ideals, whatever I would do, and I chose to name the company after a word meaning ‘ideal': "RISO."

We have been operating business sticking to this belief of the founder deeply set into the company name "RISO" to realise our corporate philosophy, which is to contribute to the development of paper communication by "creating globally unique products.

What is RISO

RISO operates business in printing markets globally, headed by a Japan-based manufacturing company, Riso Kagaku Corporation, which is listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and on the JASDAQ Securities Exchange.

We have significant global presence with over 90 billion yen (600 million Euros) of annual turnover and more than 3,200 employees, as well as agents who are committed to serve our customers in 150 countries.
In some of these countries, the name Riso has even gone into the language - they say "Riso-ing" instead of "printing" or "copying."

One of the reasons RISO printers remain people's favorite around the world for long periods is that our expertise doesn't stop at printers. We have been realising optimal print quality with profound knowledge of printing technologies through long experience of manufacturing other items required for printing, ink and master. As an experienced expert in printing business, we are committed to giving you the best quality of service.

RISO’s European Operation

RISO sets up several affiliates in Europe, among which RISO Europe is included, to respond to customers' needs as quickly as possible and provide the services best-matched to markets in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

In these affiliates, experienced local staff are daily operating to allow customers to enjoy optimal performance of RISO printers. In the EMEA markets, besides, RISO establishes an extensive dealer network to provide optimal solutions to various local print needs through the supply of RISO printers and accompanying technical services. These dealers are accredited as RISO expert with deep knowledge of RISO technologies over a long partnership with RISO.
